China achieves significant advances in deep-sea archaeology

In October 2022, two Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) shipwrecks were discovered at about 1,500 meters deep near the northwest slope of the South China Sea. They provide evidence that Chinese ancestors developed, utilized and traveled to and from the South China Sea, serving as witnesses to trade and cultural exchanges along the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
