China and ASEAN conclude substantive talks on free trade area upgrade | ABS-CBN News

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Laos Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone revealed that ASEAN and China have reached a substantive conclusion of negotiations for the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) 3.0 upgrade. Sonexay said the agreement, expected to be finalized by 2025, aims to deepen economic ties and enhance market integration between the two sides. Li, in his opening remark said China and ASEAN are two major markets with over 1.4 billion and 600 million people. "Strengthening market connectivity is an essential direction for further cooperation. The closer and more integrated the markets of China and ASEAN become, the more they can generate significant spillover effects on the economic scale, industrial agglomeration, and development," Li said.
