China and Vietnam join forces to protect critically endangered primate

Conservation efforts between China and Vietnam are helping to protect the eastern black crested gibbons – one of the most critically endangered primates in the world. Asia's last black crested gibbons live in the northern Vietnam jungle, where the habitat conservation area borders China. There are believed to be nine left in this troop. The tree-dwelling primate was believed to be extinct but was re-discovered in the early 2000s.
