China convenes third plenum with focus on economic reforms, advancing modernisation

The Chinese Communist Party is holding its third plenum. The closed-door gathering, held once every five years, is expected to throw up a series of economic measures to address issues hindering growth. Political observers said officials are not likely to deviate far from China's self-declared path of development, or "Chinese-style modernisation". According to World Bank data, China has lifted 800 million people out of poverty. Tan Yew Guan reports.
