China military puts out video of latest drills around Taiwan at dawn | ABS-CBN News

Chinese military put out a propaganda video of its forces being mobilised at dawn on Monday (October 14) to hold its latest round of war games around Taiwan dubbed "Joint Sword-2024B" drills. The Eastern Theater Command said the drills are taking place in the Taiwan Strait and areas to the north, south and east of Taiwan, but did not state when they would end. The propaganda video released on Monday has a cartoon caricature of Taiwan President Lai Ching-te, depicting him with devil-like pointed ears and Taiwan island being surrounded by Chinese fighter jets and warships, before ending with the image of a fist turning into hammer and then a sword pointed at Taiwan. Chinese ships and aircraft are approaching Taiwan in "close proximity from different directions", focusing on sea-air combat-readiness patrols, blockading key ports and areas, assaulting maritime and ground targets and "joint seizure of comprehensive superiority", the command said. China held the "Joint Sword-2024A" drills for two days around Taiwan in May shortly after Lai took office, saying they were "punishment" for separatist content in his inauguration speech.
