China names navy veteran Dong Jun as new defence minister to replace ousted Li Shangfu

China has appointed Dong Jun -- most recently the commander of the Chinese navy -- as its new defence minister. He fills a post that has been vacant for two months, since the surprise removal of Li Shangfu. Beijing has yet to provide an official reason for Mr Li's removal in October.
