Chinese residents blame mental health after second deadly attack in a week | ABS-CBN News
Chinese citizens in China’s Wuxi city on Sunday (November 17) called on the authorities to do more to help people after a stabbing a day earlier left 8 people dead and injured 14. According to local police, the suspect, a 21-year-old man and a former student at the Wuxi Vocational College of Arts and Technology in Yixing, went on a deadly stabbing spree on Saturday (November 16) after becoming angry over not getting his graduation certificate and failing an exam. He was arrested at the scene and confessed. Local resident Zhu noted that "there is too much anti-social and violent behaviour" recently and she added that economic pressures have been affecting people's mental health. Meanwhile, Zhang Xuewen, who was visiting Wuxi on a business trip, predicted that there will be another attack like this and hope that authorities could do more to help the common people. The attack comes just days after the deadliest attack in the country in a decade in southern city of Zhuhai on Monday (November 11), as a 62-year-old man has been charged today after he rammed his car into a crowd outside a sports stadium, killing 35 people and injuring 43.
