New South Wales councils that meet or beat housing targets will be offered new financial incentives under a plan to be announced by Premier Chris Minns today. The NSW government is under pressure to reach incredibly ambitious targets under the National Housing Accord and will need to build 377,000 new homes by 2029. This grants program is worth $200 million and is a financial incentive for 43 local councils to meet new housing targets. Councils will get a greater share of the funding if they meet key milestones which can then be spent on public amenities.
