The number of Barbadians between stage one and four of chronic kidney disease is a worry for the Barbados Kidney Association. Barbados this World Kidney Day is onboard with the global campaign spreading awareness about the importance of healthy kidneys and how one can maintain kidney health and prevent disease. Activities are being observed under the theme "Kidney Health For All - Advancing Equitable Access to Care and Optimal Medication Practice". President of the Association, Allen Haynes says that over 300 people are on dialysis - the last stage of kidney disease. While heredity plays a factor in kidney disease, he says non communicable diseases also have an impact. Mr. Haynes was a guest on CBC TV8's Mornin' Barbados.
