Heatwaves are set to become increasingly frequent. Recent projections show that by 2050, South African cities could face as much as six times as many sweltering nights per year. The implications for infrastructure, health and livelihoods could be dire. As part of the National Treasury Cities Support Program, supported by the World Bank, community volunteers have been conducting a heat mapping campaign in three South African metros. This is to help strengthen planning and preparedness for future heatwaves. Courtesy #DStv403
