The two day workshop which happened on the 17th and 18th of October was organized by Climate Action Network Uganda brought together key stakeholders in the environment sector to craft a comprehensive CSO Position Paper to be presented at COP29. Participants formulated key demands and actionable points for enhancing climate ambition at both national and global levels focusing on unique environment and climate change needs for Uganda. The Commissioner from the Climate Change Department delivered the official opening address, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing Uganda's climate challenges. Stakeholders have also done a detailed review of COP28 outcomes and the 2024 Bonn Intersessional meetings, providing context for the current state of global climate negotiations. This collaborative effort represents a significant step forward in Uganda's climate action strategy, uniting diverse voices from civil society and government in a common cause to address the global climate crisis. Climate change remains Uganda’s growing challenge affecting humanity and survival, with gross negative effects to agriculture and health.
