Climate crisis a global issue
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley wants countries that have caused the climate crisis to continue to step up to the plate. During a panel discussion 'From Pocket to Planet: Scaling Up Climate Finance' at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Ms. Mottley told the forum the climate crisis is global and short term debt will not cut it. She says it will not assist with adaptation or attaining the sustainable development goals. Among the panel was Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives Moosa Zameer and US Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, Mr. Kerry says the science points to the climate crisis getting worse. He says once money is deployed countries can win the battle.
