Close to half billion dollars invested in villa sector
Barbados has seen close to half a billion dollars in investment in the villa sector since 2019. This is according to Minister of Energy and Business Development, Senator Lisa Cummins. She was speaking as she led off Debate on an amendment to the Tourism Development Bill, to allow villas to access concessions for construction, renovation and furnishing. Meanwhile, Opposition Senator Ryan Walters, has called for an update on the Barbados Employment and Sustainable Transformation or BEST programme. The 300 million dollar initiative was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to allow tourism businesses to train and retain staff, as well as upgrade their facilities.
