Coffee prices need to increase in order for cafes to ‘survive’

Sky News host James Macpherson says the cost of living crisis is about to get worse as the price of your morning coffee is “about to go up”. Melbourne coffee is too cheap and cafes need to “be brave and adjust up” or risk closure in a few years’ time, according to St Ali boss Lachlan Ward. “Would you pay $6.50 for a takeaway flat white or latte?” Mr Macpherson said. “Because that’s the price industry leaders reckon they are going to have to charge in order to survive. “If you are one of those trendy types ... and you like almond milk, you could well be paying $7 for a cup of coffee.”
