‘Commercialisation of culture’: Jacinta Price on Welcome to Country ban

Shadow Indigenous Australians Minister Jacinta Nampijinpa Price says everyone is “getting sick” of Welcome to Country as an Indigenous group in Queensland has banned the ceremony. “This commercialisation of culture, which is exactly what is going on, I can understand there will be those that will be upset if we try to bring it to an end,” Ms Price said. “I think there are other ways we can encourage people to take up employment and take up opportunities in terms of money.”
