The Barbados Road Safety Association has raised its concerns regarding potential disputes following a motor vehicle accident and the role of accident responders versus the police. President Roland Lowe, who is a former police officer, queried if insurance personnel are trained in this regard as he weighed in on the change in the Road Traffic Accident Investigation Policy. He was on the panel for CBC TV's The People's Business. The topic, is the new Road Traffic Investigation Policy: A Different Response to Accidents. In response, Police Communication and Public Affairs Officer Inspector Rodney Inniss says the insurance reponders underwent a 40-hour one-week training course in Accident Scene Management. He says that initial training is appropriate, given that the responders will be handling minor accidents or so-called fender benders. As it relates to tensions rising at the scene, he adds that police will respond.
