COP29 started in Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, with a key focus on scaling up climate finance to help lower-income countries transition to zero-carbon economies. But there are concerns around a US climate finance deal following Donald Trump’s win in the election. This comes as he vows to pull out from the 2015 Paris Agreement for a second time. US climate envoy John Podesta said the fight against climate change is "bigger than one election", and suggests for long term plans after Mr Trump leaves the White House.
