Concerns over Labor’s emissions target amid new figures on cuts to greenhouse gases

New figures reveal cuts to greenhouse gases have been flatlining over recent years. Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen released the quarterly update of Australia’s National Greenhouse Gas Inventory. In the year to March, 2.7 million fewer tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions were recorded than the year before – a 0.6 per cent decrease. Mr Bowen is still hopeful Australia is on track to achieve its target of 43 per cent emissions reductions by 2030.
