Conservatives ask if Trudeau made “deal” to get Singh’s vote of confidence
Canada's Conservative Party accused the Trudeau Liberals of making a “deal” with NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh to stop the government from falling in Monday’s Opposition Day non-confidence vote in the House of Commons. “Will the Prime Minister allow the NDP leader to vote for his own words, or did the PM whip the NDP vote to block a carbon tax election,” asked Conservative MP Michael Barrett. The Conservative motion quoted Singh’s own criticisms of the prime minister, asking the NDP to vote to bring down the government. But Singh said last week he would not support the Conservatives’ motion. The Liberals survived the third attempt to topple their minority government on Monday, with the NDP and Liberals voting against the motion.
