Once all goes according to plans, construction of an end-of-life care facility will begin in the fourth quarter of this year. The Barbados Association for Cancer Advocacy (BACA) has identified the building of a hospice as a major goal of the charity. Public Relations Officer Jessica Odle-Baril says the idea has been embraced by stakeholders and individuals. She says they are now working with the association to make the hospice a reality, at the Coverley Plantation Grounds in Christ Church, under a long-term lease arrangement with Government. She was speaking during a press conference where BACA handed over a donation of $2 500 (BDS) to the Barbados Association of Palliative Care, to assist with its community home care initiative for people who are terminally ill. Ms. Odle-Baril is calling on corporate Barbados and Barbadians in the Diaspora to donate to the construction of the facility.
