Councils and towns in NT continue to celebrate Australia Day with First Nations people
Sky News host Paul Murray says many towns in the Northern Territory with significant Indigenous populations are still celebrating Australia Day. “Alice Springs, and Darwin, now in Alice Springs on their website right now you can see the celebrations that are planned for that day,” Mr Murray said. “Most important thing that happens on that day, which is we honour the great volunteers amongst us with citizenship awards and there are people who become Australian citizens. “There’s also events paid for by the council, not dripping in Australian flags but just something fun to do.” Mr Murray discussed the Northern Territory towns and regions still celebrating Australia Day while having a close relationship with the Indigenous population.
