CS Duale gazettes the deployment of the military in response to the anti-tax protests

Cabinet Secretary for Defence Aden Duale has gazetted the deployment of the military in response to the anti-tax protests. In the gazette notice, Duale who is also the chairperson of the defence council, said the deployment continues until normalcy returns. This comes as the high court in Malindi issues temporary orders stopping security agencies from using water cannons and tear gas against protestors. Justice Mugure Thande said police should also not use any live ammunition, rubber bullets, or other crude weapons or any form of violence against protestors until a case filed by former Azimio leader Saitabao Ole Kanchory is determined.
