Cyclone Megan moving towards Northern Territory coast

Tropical Cyclone Megan has formed in the Gulf of Carpenteria. The system is expected to strengthen into a category two system overnight. It is then predicted to make landfall as a potential category three storm on Monday. Heavy rainfall, flash flooding and destructive winds will intesify as the cyclone approaches the coast. A cyclone warning has been issued for Alyangula in the Northern Territory through to Mornington island in Queensland.
