Next week marks 80 years since the D-Day landings, which are seen as a crucial turning point in World War Two. But it could have ended in disaster were it not for a weather report from Ireland. The forecast, from a 21-year-old postmistress Maureen Sweeney, postponed the offensive by two days, saving thousands of allied lives.
