Danielle Smith using "tone deaf" gender pronoun policy to "distract" Albertans:
Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley held a press conference on Thursday where she condemned the “cruel” policy proposed by Premier Danielle Smith that would require schools to notify and receive parental consent if a child 15 years or younger changed their name or pronouns at school. Smith’s proposal was shared in a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday. In it, the United Conservative Party (UCP) politician said that parents would also be given the choice to opt their children out of classroom discussions and instruction on gender identity, sexual orientation, or human sexuality. Notley claimed Smith’s policy was not only “mean-spirited” and “tone deaf,” but was being used to “distract,” “divide” and have Albertans “look away” from the issues facing their province under her power. The NDP politician further expressed her concerns for the safety and well-being of “transgendered and other marginalized youth within the queer community.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10264436/alberta-parental-rights-policy/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on Twitter HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #Alberta #DanielleSmith
