A new investigation by the CBC’s Fifth Estate sheds light on who might have been responsible for a devastating and fatal case of human smuggling two years ago. On Jan. 19, 2022, police found four people frozen to death, just metres away from the U.S. border in Manitoba. The victims, identified as the Patel family, were confirmed by RCMP to be Indian citizens.
