The Island’s Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire, has joined calls by citizens for an end to gun violence. Already five lives have been lost for 2024. The latest killing occurred Tuesday 16 January at Bonne Terre. French national, 58 year old Eric Jean Heinis, who made St Lucia his second home, was shot whilst walking along his usual route to home. His murder came 24 hours after 27 year old Canice Felicien was gunned down in the town of Gros Islet. Dr Ernest Hilaire says government is playing its part in crime fighting, providing equipment and other necessary resources to the Police Force. However, the citizenry must take up a more active role by collaborating with the Police.
