Detroit PBS And The Judy And Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory Introduce NOVA: The Solar System
Our solar system is home to a myriad of fascinating smaller bodies, including moons, asteroids, and comets. In recent decades, space missions have brought these neighboring worlds into sharp focus. Now, using the latest scientific imagery and stunningly realistic animations, planetary scientists take us on a journey across the solar system to uncover new revelations about our celestial neighborhood – and illuminate how Earth may be the oddest world of all. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/series/solar-system/ The Detroit Observatory was built in 1854, and was the first scientific research facility at the University of Michigan and one of the oldest observatories of its type in the nation. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1958 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Starting in 2019 and finishing in 2022, the observatory re-open with a new addition and new name: the Judy and Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory. https://detroitobservatory.umich.edu/ Subscribe to the Detroit PBS channel for more clips: https://www.youtube.com/@detroitpbs Enjoy full episodes of your favorite PBS shows anytime, anywhere with the free PBS Video App: https://www.detroitpbs.org/download-mobile-app/ Join the Detroit PBS Newsletter: https://www.detroitpbs.org/subscribe/ FOLLOW US: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/detroitpbs/ X (formerly known as Twitter): https://x.com/detroit_pbs Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/detroitpbs/
