Displaced Gaza families shelter in destroyed schools amid bombardment and overcrowding
In southern Gaza, displaced families seek refuge in destroyed schools amid relentless bombardment and overcrowding. The UN estimates 70% of Gaza’s population has been forced from their homes, with schools offering fragile sanctuaries for survival. Families endure harsh conditions, surrounded by rubble, mosquitoes, and cold, as safe shelters are scarce. Overcrowding has pushed families into unsafe spaces, leading to tragic collapses. Despite resilience, the humanitarian response remains insufficient. Classrooms, once symbols of hope, now host families who have lost everything, highlighting the deep cracks in both the buildings and relief efforts. Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum reports on displaced Palestinians from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
