Al Jazeera English

Lebanon hosts the highest population of Syrian refugees per capita and the second largest population overall of Syrians displaced after the Arab Spring uprising against the now ousted President Bashar al-Assad. The vast majority need humanitarian assistance to survive and have not been able to return to Syria in years. Most children born to Syrian parents in Lebanon since the uprising are stateless. In the camps and informal communities of the Bekaa Valley, where most Syrians live, the fall of Assad saw raucous celebrations in the streets.
