DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran triggered a row after he said Hindi speakers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar who come to Tamil Nadu end up doing construction work or cleaning roads and toilets. An old clip of the DMK MP's remark has gone viral and was shared by BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, who slammed INDIA bloc leaders from the two states for not speaking against the DMK MP. In the old clip, Maran compared people who learnt English and those who only learnt Hindi and said the former end up in IT companies while the latter do menial jobs. Reacting sharply to DMK MP's remarks on people from Bihar, BJP MP from Patna Ravi Shankar Prasad asserted that DMK leaders should stop insulting people of Bihar. "People of Bihar are forced to go there because of the condition of the state under Nitish Kumar, who is a member of their INDI alliance," BJP MP said. Shehzad Poonawalla accused the INDIA bloc of trying to divide the people of the country along the lines of caste, language and religion and slammed the alliance's "inaction" against the DMK MP. "Once again an attempt to play the Divide and Rule card," Poonawalla wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
