Do you "smell of work"? That's one of China's top 10 buzzwords of 2024, selected by Shanghai-based linguistic journal Yaowen Jiaozi. Here's the full list, along with what the terms mean: 1. 水灵灵的 (Lively and bright): Describes something or someone as young and vibrant 2. 硬控 (Hard control): Initially a gaming term, it's now used to describe the state of being captivated 3. 智能向善 (Intelligence for goodwill): Using intelligent technologies for the greater good. Often used to describe the development or ethics of AI 4. 数智化 (Digital intelligence): Describes the trend of integrating digital and intelligent technologies 5. 小孩哥/小孩姐 (Kid bro/Kid sis): Describes exceptionally talented young people 6. City不city (City or not city): Used to ask whether a place is modern or not.
