Donald Trump urging ‘vigilance on the border’ following New Year attacks
Political Scientist Simon Jackman says US President-elect Donald Trump has been “pumping some oxygen” back into the border issue following two separate attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas. Law enforcement has provided major updates on the car-ramming terror attack and Tesla vehicle blast outside a Donald Trump-owned hotel which rocked the United States, with both suspects having served in the army, but there is "no definitive link" between the two separate incidents. “They will make the argument that even if it turns out to be US citizens ... the circumstances and what these attacks indicate is the need for vigilance on the border,” Mr Jackman told Sky News Australia. “They are looking to pick up as much political momentum out of events such as these as they can.”
