Double tax treaties impact on the region

Regional economist Marla Dukharan says the more than 100-year-old, 3000-strong bilateral double tax treaty network allows for the legal avoidance of taxes by foreign companies in developing countries. According to her, there's a study that shows capacity constraints and imperfect negotiation strategies in developing countries are exploited by capital-exporting states, shielding multinationals from taxation. 3000-strong.
