Doug Ford speaks to reporters following premiers' meeting on Trump tariff threat | LIVE
Ontario Premier Doug Ford will speak to reporters Monday after chairing a meeting of provincial and territorial leaders in Toronto today, where Canada-U.S. relations will top the agenda. Ford said prior to the meeting that provincial and territorial leaders must play a larger role in developing Canada's strategy for dealing with a new Trump administration. U.S. president-elect Trump has threatened to impose a 25 per cent tariff on all goods coming from Canada and Mexico, unless the two countries stop illegal border crossings and prevent illegal drugs like fentanyl from entering the U.S. The Premiers have had virtual meetings with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to discuss the tariffs, press him for more funding on border security and plan a coordinated response.
