DR. KIIZA BESIGYE & OBEID LUTALE REMANDED UNTIL 7TH JAN. 2024

Court Martial Makindye presided over by its chairman Brig. Gen. Freeman Mugabe has remanded Rtd. Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his co- accused Hajji Obeid Lutale to Luzira prisons until 7th January 2025 after the accused insisted their Kenyan lawyer Martha Karua leads the defense team yet she lacks a valid practicing license from the Uganda law council. Besigye and Lutale were brought to the general court martial Makindye amidst tightened Security following their arrest in Kenya on 4 counts. The two brought in a drone car and it took a couple of minutes before they were led to the courtroom after a dispute elapsed between their lawyers and the military over the number of people who were supposed to make it to the court roomHowever, it was a tense situation as only 7 lawyers had been allowed in putting resistance for the entire crew to represent Besigye and Lutale.
