Researchers have found out just how risky sleep deprivation is. Studies have shown that sleeping less than six hours a night could increase the risk of suffering a heart attack by up to 50%, an 11% higher risk of hypertension and a 50% higher chance of an early death. Almost a third of Americans said they are sleep deprived. Meanwhile, Asians sleep on average six and a half hours -- 30 minutes shorter than most other countries. Dr Stijn Massar, a research assistant professor at the National University of Singapore's Sleep and Cognition Laboratory, shared more about sleeplessness in Asia.
