Dysfunction in US political system top risk for 2024, says political scientist

The United States political system is “by far the most dysfunctional political system of all of the advanced industrial economies”, says political scientist Ian Bremmer. It is not capable of ensuring a free and fair election that transfers power peacefully and that is believed as legitimate by its population, he tells CNA’s Asia First, as the country heads towards presidential elections in November this year. This has earned “US versus itself” the top spot in the Top 10 Global Risks for 2024 list by Eurasia, where Mr Bremmer is group president.
