East or West, home is best - VP Alupo urges diaspora to invest in Uganda

President Yoweri Museveni has called on Ugandans living abroad to invest back home, urging them to leverage the domestic and African markets, with a population of 1.3 billion. In a speech delivered by Vice President Maj. Jessica Alupo at the Ugandan Diaspora Convention 2024, Museveni highlighted Uganda’s favorable investment climate, including peace, security, and infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of the diaspora investing in sectors such as agriculture, industry, services, and ICT. Museveni also stressed that Uganda's development depends on its citizens, urging the diaspora to contribute capital, entrepreneurship, and knowledge for sustainable growth.
