Barbados' upgrade from the American credit rating agency, Fitch Incorporated has been welcomed by economist, Avinash Persaud. The island's long-term foreign currency issuer default rating has been moved to 'B' from 'B+'. Mr. Persaud, former advisor to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, says Government's finances continue to improve adding that it has now entered into a period of watching. Only recently, the Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados stated the country was awaiting the verdict from top credit rating agencies that were assessing the viability of the nation's investments. Mr. Persaud, who is now Special Advisor to the President of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, says the upgrade would make Barbados an attractive place for investments.
