Education crisis in Los Angeles: Students experiencing homelessness increased by 19 percent

Students experiencing homelessness in the Los Angeles Unified School District increased by nearly 19 percent from the school year ending in 2023 to the full school year prior, according to the district. LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho says he believes these numbers are just the “tip of the iceberg”. Stephanie Gosk shares the story of 14-year-old freshman Vanessa and the challenges her family has faced without a permanent home.
