Efforts continue to address overgrown lots
Government is making amendments to the Health Services Bill to address the vexing problem of overgrown lots. Attorney General Dale Marshall says the Act, passed in the 1960s, sets out laws relating to the promotion and preservation of the health of the inhabitants of Barbados. However, Mr. Marshall says the legislation and level of fines are of no relevance today. He told the Lower House Government's approach is to put in place an administrative fine or penalty, rather than hauling a person before the law courts. The State will step in as a last resort.
