As the official start date of the hurricane season approaches, we are hearing of the need to further develop ways of alerting the public. In fact, Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams says protocols need to be developed for Government's Common Alerting Protocol or the CAP App. He was addressing the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Cooperation in Integrated Disaster Risk Management between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean. Minister Abrahams notes there are 43,000 users of the system and in an effort to reach more people, they have employed the services of those with large social media followings to get the messaging out.
