Efforts to boost communication for natural disaster management

Cabinet has approved a National Multi-hazard Early Warning Systems Policy. The announcement from Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams, who says it provides strategic guidance for the implementation of early warning systems. Mr. Abrahams was addressing the Department of Emergency Management's one-day high-level media roundtable discussion and media workshop. He says media houses, emergency services, and warning focal points have a significant role to play in the communication and dissemination of risks to the public in the event of natural disasters.
