Government is stepping up efforts to ensure all Barbadians participate in the Season of Emancipation. It will be establishing an Emancipation Village in Haggatt Hall, St. Michael, beginning in the grassy area just a stone's throw away from the Bussa Statue. The announcement was made by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office with Responsibility for Culture, Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight during a press conference at Sky Mall. The Village, which will be launched on May 25 and runs to August 17, will be free to the public. It's the brainchild of Special Envoy in the Prime Minister's Office on Reparations and Economic Enfranchisement, Trevor Prescod. He believes it will give artistes an opportunity to experiment with different fusions of Caribbean music.
