Embracing Christmas traditions as a newcomer to Canada | CBC Creator Network

‘The Christmas Mom’ is a short documentary that explores the unexpected love affair between Punjabi immigrant Sarbjit Sandhu and the quintessentially Western holiday of Christmas. The conversation is led by her daughter Raj Thandhi, a food and culture writer who has inherited her mother’s love of the holiday season and hosting.  Despite not growing up with Christmas traditions, Sandhu wholeheartedly embraced the holiday spirit and made it an integral part of her family's life in Canada. Her enthusiasm for holiday lights, decor, gift giving— and most importantly, for hosting her family — shines through. It’s a touching exploration of cultural adaptation, family bonds and the universal appeal of holiday traditions.  Watch more CBC Creator Network videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd9pLwfvcsdRlbfKwBhoC3fdOJb1C6pMo Subscribe to CBC Vancouver: https://www.youtube.com/cbcvancouver?sub_confirmation=1 Featuring Sarbjit Sandhu Credits Raj Thandhi - Host and Director | https://www.instagram.com/pinkchai/ Aziz Dhamani - DOP and Editor | https://www.instagram.com/azizdhamani/ Everett Bumstead - Filmmaking mentor Produced for CBC Creator Network. #CBCVancouver #CBCCreatorNetwork #BritishColumbia
