Emmanuel Macron names Francois Bayrou as French PM

French President Emmanuel Macron has named Francois Bayrou his fourth prime minister of 2024. The veteran 73-year-old centrist has been tasked with steering the country out of its second major political crisis in the last six months. Mr Bayrou, a close ally of Emmanuel Macron, is expected to put forward his list of ministers in the coming days.
