‘Ended the political year with a bang’: Coalition unveils nuclear plan costings
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell claims the Coalition’s announcement of the details of the costings of its ambitious nuclear plans has “ended the political year with a bang”. “Buried in the Opposition’s modelling on this is a capital cost for building the Liberal-Nationals’ proposed seven nuclear power plants of around $140 billion or about $20 billion per plant,” he said. “This figure can be deduced because the Frontier Economics report says that the capital cost of building the plants is $10,000 per kilowatt, and the Opposition has said they are going to build 14 million kilowatts of nuclear power. “Opposition sources yesterday put the construction cost figure at closer to $120 billion.” Mr Clennell claimed Labor plans to “hammer this plan” all the way up until the federal election next year.
