Energy Minister Lauds bpTT For Local Content
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young, has hailed the strong local content during a tour of the ‘Seven Seas,’ a pipe-laying vessel which is currently supporting the development of bpTT’s Cypre Project in Trinidad and Tobago. The vessel currently docked at the ChagTerms dock, Chaguaramas is undertaking ‘transpooling’ activity related to sub-sea infrastructure installation that will connect gas from the Cypre field to bpTT’s Juniper platform, off Trinidad’s southeast coast. At the vessel tour on Monday alongside executives of bpTT, Minister Young met Trinidad and Tobago nationals employed as survey technicians, ‘motormen,’ a survey advisor, ‘medic’ and a remotely operated vehicle (R.O.V.) operator. Three local cadets pursuing the University of Trinidad and Tobago’s Diploma in Maritime Operations, receiving practical training on-board the vessel, also met Minister Young. The Cypre Project will include seven wells and sub-sea trees tied back into bpTT’s existing Juniper platform with gas production projected for 2025.
