Al Jazeera English

In northwestern Ethiopia, workers in a refugee settlement are hastily constructing classrooms for Sudanese refugees. With more arrivals expected, the existing tented classrooms are overcrowded and unbearably hot. Teachers are working hard to provide education despite challenges and need more training. UNHCR's integrated approach encourages shared services like health, education, and agriculture, but resources are limited. Approximately 5 million Sudanese children have fled, with a million in shelters across Chad, Egypt, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. Aid workers are struggling to meet their needs amidst challenging conditions. Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports.
